Mid-terms & Regents exams

Bulldog families,

First, I'd like to wish you all a very happy new year and offer a welcome back to all of our students. As we head towards the midpoint of the school year, we'd like to remind the community and our students of the upcoming testing week. From January 21st through January 24th, the high school will be administering midterms and the January Regents exams.

For those unfamiliar with the process, students will only report to school on those days if they have an exam scheduled. As an example, on January 21, your student would report to the building by 7:30am if they have a midterm for their first period class and leave afterward if they have no other tests scheduled. Your child's teacher will let their students know if they have a midterm during this week and remind them when to report.

Attached below is the official testing schedule for the week of 1/21-1/24 as well as the bus schedule for the testing window. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Dr. Crifo in the Assistant Principal's office via e-mail (jcrifo@lufsd.org) or phone (631-867-3770).

Good luck to all of our students!

Dear Ninth-Grade Parents, Guardians, and Supporters,

Welcome to Lindenhurst High School! As we embark on this exciting new chapter with your child, we want to extend our warmest welcome to you. We are thrilled to have your family join our school community and are eager to partner with you to support your child’s academic and personal growth. At Lindenhurst High School, we believe in creating an environment where students can thrive and reach their full potential. This begins with setting high expectations and maintaining a culture of respect and responsibility. Our goal is to help every student succeed, both in their studies and in their personal development. We want to be clear about our commitment to a safe and positive school environment. We do not tolerate any form of physical violence, drug use, vaping, or other behavior that jeopardizes the well-being of our students and the integrity of our learning community. These standards are in place to ensure that all students can learn and grow in a safe, supportive, and challenging environment.
Here’s what you can expect from us:

  • High Expectations: We expect our students to engage fully in their academic and extracurricular activities and to take pride in their work and achievements. There will be plenty of exciting and challenging opportunities.
  • Accountability: We hold students accountable for their behavior and choices, focusing on teaching responsibility and fostering a positive school culture. We are confident they will rise to the challenge.
  • Support: Our professional learning community will exhaust its resources to assist your child in transitioning to high school. We will be there to address any challenges and celebrate their accomplishments.

Freshman Orientation will take place on Wednesday, August 28th, from 9 to 10:30. This is an opportunity for students to become acquainted with the building and some of the people they will encounter daily. The orientation will take place in the auditorium and will conclude with a tour of the building led by our peer leaders. Orientation is for students only.

Schedules will be available via the Parent/Student Portal after 3:00 PM on Tuesday, August 20th. Bus and locker information will also be viewable there. Counselors will be available beginning August 26th to answer scheduling questions.

If students want to prepare their locker, they may bring their Middle School lock or purchase a lock in the Main Office for $5.00. All lockers must be secured with a district-issued lock. Store-bought locks are not permitted.

We are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and are confident that, with your support, this will be a successful year for your child. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have. Thank you for your partnership in this important endeavor. Please speak with your child/children about setting a course for success at the high school. We look forward to a wonderful year ahead and seeing our freshmen on August 28th! Have a peaceful remainder to the summer.

With much appreciation,
Matthew Boccanfuso, Ed.D.
