About Us

Ms. Jennifer Kelly
Welcome to the Lindenhurst High School Library! For 23 years I have taught in Lindenhurst as a high school English teacher, but when the opportunity to become one of the high school librarians presented itself to me, I couldn’t have been more thrilled. I have been a reader and have had a love of the library my whole life. As a teenager, I worked as a page in the Lindenhurst Memorial Library, and I have always enjoyed the research process, which was especially important for me as an English major.

Ms. Kelly Ricotta
I’m Kelly Ricotta, one of the library media specialists at the High School. This is my second year in the district as a librarian. Prior to these two years I worked in the district in a few different buildings in a variety of roles. My love of research and books brought me to completing my master’s in library media and information science. I enjoy sharing those passions through lessons and activities in the Media Center. Since starting at the High School I have been reading more YA titles and getting great recommendations from the students. It is hard to choose a favorite book, but the “Harry Potter” series is always one that I can fall back on and has special meaning to me and my family.

To contact us, you can always stop by our offices, located in the back of the Media Center, or you can reach us via email and phone.

Our Library Program

The Lindenhurst High School Media Center is a warm and welcoming environment where students can feel comfortable to learn, explore and ask questions. The Media Center staff is available to help students with anything they may need. Our motto for the High School Library is “When in Doubt Go to the Library!” We want to encourage students and all staff members to consider us a resource for getting things accomplished. Whether it’s a general research question, difficulty with technology, collaboration for an upcoming lesson or simply what to read next – allow us to help meet your needs!

We offer an active and flexible space for both students and teachers to use. One of our goals has been to make it a warmer and more inviting space for students designed to support learning, collaboration, creativity and reading. Students have full access to our book collection and are able to borrow books at their convenience. We engage readers with a focus on popular and relevant young adult literature, and our displays attract attention and generate interest. Additionally, we implement monthly themes to create a positive atmosphere among teachers and students. Students can also come to the Media Center to use our makerspace. Our makerspace is filled with puzzles, board games, Legos, STEM activities and a lot more that students can explore at their own pace. Students are encouraged to create and play with a variety of makerspace items.

Our Media Center has work space for group projects, quiet areas for studying and comfortable seating to relax in. Students have 24/7 access to the district’s databases where they can retrieve credible and reliable sources of information. The Media Center also houses Chrome Depot and a computer lab.

Open Library Hours
We maintain a comfortable work environment from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Students can access the Media Center before and after school. Students are welcome to come to the Media Center during their lunch and study hall periods with the proper pass.
